Vintage Chirstmas

Brittany, here. I'm the daughter and neice of the lovely ladies of Stitches of Love. I am the official story teller of all things quilted by Julie and Edie. Here is Edie's latest masterpiece and the story behind it:

A long, long time ago in a far away land lived an avid quilter. She traveled far and wide looking for the most beautiful quilts in the land. Then suddenly, she came across the most perfect and beautiful Christmas quilt she had ever seen. From that moment forward, she knew that quilt would one day hang in her home.

The quilt is Vintage Christmas by Anne Sutton of Bunny Hill Designs. The avid quilter is our very own sister and aunt, Edie. For over two years we watched as Edie sat at the dining room table talking and laughing as she tirelessly worked using the Pearl Pereira spray starch method, spraying and ironing as block by block the quilt began to come together.

Of course, because this quilt is so special and so much attention to detail was paid during the piecing, applique and embroidery process, Edie decided to custom quilt the entire quilt. Miss. Ruby (our Gammill Statler Stitcher) was on her best behavior and performed fabulously! We took LOTS of pictures and welcome you to check them out below!

Edie marks the outline of the embroidery pattern so Miss Ruby knows just where to stitch!

This picture really shows off the border...don't you just die when you look at how lovely this is?!

You can see that each block is quilted using a different fill pattern.

Before the quilt makes it's home in Edie's living room this holiday season it will be displayed in downtown Tallahassee for the 30th Annual Capital City Quilt Show.If you are in Tallahassee between August and November make sure to stop by - lots of our friends have incredible quilts entered!

What about you? Have you made the Vintage Christmas quilt? How did yours turn out? We would absolutely LOVE to see pictures - even if it isn't quite finished! Post them on our Facebook page and show off your skills!

Toodles,
Brittany
